Teaser

Our group conducts research at the intersection between computer graphics and machine learning with a focus on rendering. We seek to develop algorithms which enable fast and high-quality image generation for interactive virtual environments. To this end, we consider a broad range of approaches for image synthesis.

Our research interests include:

  • Data-driven/neural rendering
  • Physically-based rendering
  • Image-based rendering
  • Inverse rendering
  • Machine learning for computer graphics
  • Generative models
  • Scene representations
  • Efficient parallel algorithms

Positions

We are looking for motivated PhD candidates to carry out research in the interdisciplinary area of image synthesis and machine learning. Requirements are

  • a Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, mathematics, or physics,
  • solid knowledge in computer graphics and/or machine learning,
  • a strong background in mathematics and programming,
  • good communication skills.
If you are interested, feel free to send an e-mail to Thomas Leimkühler, describing yourself and your motivation to join us. Please also include your CV and academic transcripts.

Occasionally, we also offer research internship positions (6+ months, Master's students preferred) and Master's thesis topics.
